Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water Review

I have been thinking about skincare recently. By recently meaning the last two years :P. I have been thinking that since having good skin is so important to me and gives me such self-confidence maybe I should look into it a little bit more.

With the help of a few youtube videos, a few articles and a great website that pretty much explains ingredients I learned soo much about what makes our skin and that we should treat it with love and respect. Having all that knowledge made me turn away so many products I have been liking so far and the result was evident on my skin. I rarely battle with acne now, my pores are smaller and my skin much more matt.

Now this is a great post for me to do on my own, writing about everything I learned and giving you some recommendations and tips on skin care in general, but on this post, I would like to focus on one product specifically and avoid the huge introduction that I usually do *looks up*, dang it!

There is this amazing brand/website on the web called Wishtrend. They have an amazing line of products and among them, there is this Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water. Which is actually a toner that exfoliates your skin.

Now on exfoliation. If you have acne, sensitive skin or wrinkles and use a physical scrub (meaning a scrub with small particles of any kind in it), stop. Like really. You are practically scratching your skin and not allowing it to heal. Please stop. Chemical exfoliation, on the other hand, is a completely different deal. Chemical exfoliation does all the work of a peel without all the harm. It uses acids to aid in skin cells turnover. They practically leave you with baby smooth skin that is bright. The two main categories of acids that do that are AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) and BHAs (beta hydroxy acids). Now, this is all nice and dandy, there are two things you must take in consideration though and that is very important.

First: Usually the chemical peels must be done once or maximum twice per week, and for a limited amount of time.
Second: You must always, always always, always use sunscreen if you use a chemical peel.

In short, you can't really get that smooth, baby, poreless skin every day, right?

Well, I thought so too, but then I found this Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water. This toner that is better used at night (and at daytime, you must use sunscreen) can be used daily. Not only does it reduce your pores, fights acne and leaves your skin super duper smooth. It creates the perfect base for any skin care you might use later on. Which means that you will get all the benefit of all the products you will use next. All in all, I find it genius and it is quickly becoming my favorite toner.

It is priced at 22$ at 120ml it also helps with pigmentation and is antibacterial. Some of the key ingredients are mandelic acid (the AHA exfoliant with large molecules that doesn't penetrate the skin and isn't irritating), Panthenol (B5 vitamin that does wonders for your skin) and sodium hyaluronate (helps retain moisture within the skin).

Instructions are pretty simple: Wash your face with a mild cleanser gently and then apply the product either directly to your skin with your palms or wipe your face gently with a cotton pad soaked in this toner if you feel like you need deeper exfoliation. The only night I don't use this, is if I am doing a chemical peeling that night and it is not recommended to use with vitamin C. But essentially it is a chemical peel suitable even for sensitive skin, that you can do every night. If you have really sensitive skin then you can limit the use of it to 2-3 per week.

You can use Cosdna to verify the ingredients list, it is the site I usually use to check any skin care item but I have always found that the Wishtrend products use amazing ingredients, don't take my word for it check them yourself.
In general, they are an amazing brand with great ethics and great products and I couldn't recommend them more.

*This product was given to me by Wishtrend in order to review it. I wasn't paid to write for Wishtrend and all opinions in this post are my own. I would never write a positive review about something I don't like and vice versa. There are also some affiliate links in the post. The affiliate links help this blog grow and your support is much appreciated!
